The meeting was positive, with board members reemphasising that RDASI have an opportunity to make a unique impact in the region. The Wool Sales Relocation Project was also a key topic of discussion.
The board agreed that given Hugh Cooke’s background and expertise, he would be the ideal ‘champion’ to continue to facilitate the move.
However, it was re-emphasised that RDASI’s job is not to deliver the project, but rather to facilitate it.
The Wool Sales Relocation Report, produced in 2017, will continue to be promoted and used to inform decision making, however, ultimately, it will be up to the industry to make the final decision.
Given the recent disappointing decentralisation outcome from the federal budget, where just six government agencies were relocated to regional areas (including Parramatta), RDASI is more motivated than ever to assist in encouraging the private sector to relocate to our region.
The wool sales relocation has the potential to bring about considerable economic development and growth to Goulburn and surrounding areas. The RDASI are excited to move forward with the wool sales discussion and look forward to sharing their progress.
