Over 20 local not-for-profit groups were there offering information on volunteering opportunities available in the Goulburn district.
Expo organiser Julie Salway said it was the fourth Volunteer Expo and it keeps getting bigger.
“It was an event where people could turn up to find ways ways they could help in their local community,” Mrs Salway said.
She said there would be something of interest for all at the event.
She said volunteering is a great way to expand one’s skills or to get out meet like-minded people.
Stalls at the event included: The Red Cross, Smith Family, Angels for the Forgotten, SES, Home-Start, St John Ambulance, MHS Remembrance Museum, Celebrate Goulburn Group, Goulburn Health Service, The Phoenix Committee, Friends of Goulburn Swamplands (FROGS), Community Plus, Gowing Abilities, Shine For Kids, Goulburn Multiculrtural Centre, Meals on Wheels, Riversdale and the Goulburn Historic Waterworks.
“Volunteering is a way to become and stay involved in their local community, make new friends, learn new and retain existing skills, be social, healthy and active,” Mrs Salway said.
The expo is an initiative of the Goulburn Volunteer Resource Service, which promotes volunteering, registers not-for-profit organisations who need volunteers, refers volunteers to registered organisations with volunteer positions available.
