The $500 scholarship was presented at a delicious afternoon tea hosted by Dr Isabella Hawke and prepared by the students.
Johnny Fang, who hails from Temora, has a good appreciation of the benefits and hardships of rural life.
He is also very aware of the importance of local community organisations in rural areas.
This local NSW Farmers Scholarship backs the future careers of rural students such as Johnny.
We wish he and his fellow students future success as doctors and hope some of them will return to rural communities to further their careers.
The students who are selected to spend a year of their training at the Goulburn Campus gain a lot of practical experience at local medical clinics, Goulburn and Crookwell Hospitals and other allied health services.
During their rural placement they train by video-conference with ANU in Canberra and locally under the supervision of Dr Isabella Hawke and Dr Tony Whelan.
Local NSWFarmers are happy to support Rural Medical Training as it is vital for the health and well-being of farmers to have easy access to trained and committed medical professionals in rural communities.
It is critical that doctors, specialists and allied health professionals have adequate local facilities to accommodate their work.
