To demonstrate such endeavours at Goulburn High School, a Literacy and Numeracy evening on Wednesday September 12 will showcase the work of the school community in uplifting the students’ skill set.
It will be a fun night for the family, as well as informative for parents who want to assist their children in developing literacy and numeracy skills.
“We are a future-focused school,” principal Paul Hogan said.
“We strive to ensure every student is developing the necessary literacy and numeracy skills in an engaging and collaborate manner.
“Our students have their whole lives ahead of them and by developing their skills in literacy and numeracy, they are enabling themselves to become lifelong learners.”
Goulburn High teachers are supported by in-school literacy and numeracy coordinators, who provide resources and classroom support as well as develop whole-school programs such as the Super Six for literacy, a program that breaks down all text types by focusing on specific comprehension skills.
Goulburn High will also engage students through trivia competitions, a dress-up day and a barbecue lunch to raise money for ATSI students.
The school will extend an invitation to future students, inviting Year 6 classes from the area to join in focus sessions for literacy and numeracy.
