Where last year, the Swans played in the AFL Canberra Fourth Grade Men's competition, this year the team will take part in the new Third Grade Regional comp.
The new division was formed to accommodate growing numbers in Canberra's third and fourth grades, and the depth of talent within its regional teams warranted a new division of their own.
The competition will start on Saturday April 27, will feature five teams (Yass, Murrumbateman, Goulburn, Cootamundra, and Cooma), and will be played for 15 rounds.
While Murrumbateman is a newly-formed club, the rest of the teams are well-established in the Canberra region, and the grand finalists from the last two years (Yass, Cooma, and Cootamundra) are indicative of the quality that the competition will host.
In the first round, Goulburn will travel to the Murrumbateman Rec Grounds to take on the Murrumbateman Eagles in their inaugural match.
The game will also be an opportunity for new coach Simon Treloar to test his squad and see where they stand early in the season.
