The charitable organisations in our region are again having issues with illegal dumping, with rubbish (including lawn clippings) dumped in their laneways. This is disgraceful, and means staff and volunteers spend their time cleaning this up rather than undertaking their normal work.

Council is supporting St Vincent de Paul and other charitable organisations by providing subsidised waste disposal, strategies for dealing with illegal dumpers including community education, surveillance of high risk premises and the erection of signage.
But we are also calling on the community to work together to report illegal dumping to the council. Any evidence such as photographs or registration of vehicles can be extremely helpful. The penalties for illegal dumping are significant and include on the spot fines of $4000 per offence.
Hay distribution a success
One hundred and seven residents have received a timely boost prior to winter, with the council partnering with the Rapid Relief Team to deliver hay bales to farmers in the region on Saturday.
It was a busy Saturday morning at the Goulburn Recreation Area, with the distribution being undertaken on a stunning autumn day. I'm pleased that we were able to make a second distribution to local farmers, especially those who missed out on the first distribution in December. Over the last month or two we have had some nice rain which has allowed some growth before we head into winter, but it is still going to be a difficult year for our farmers.
I would like to again thank the Rapid Relief Team for their huge effort on Saturday to make sure the day ran smoothly and everyone was loaded quickly.
Killard Infrastructure
This week I thought I'd inform readers of another good news story for the local economy, as we seem to be seeing many new businesses in industrial fields establishing in the region.
Killard Infrastructure, a multi-functional infrastructure company, have chosen Goulburn as the new home of their regional operations, citing the strategic location and growing economy as the reason for establishing its permanent base.
As part of Goulburn Mulwaree Council's proactive commitment to improving water quality, Killard Infrastructure were successful with the tender for water main renewal work in the region in February this year.
Their team on the ground in Goulburn already includes 10 employees, with a number of new jobs created for locals in this group, and from the Goulburn office they are also managing projects in Canberra and Cootamundra.
