"I want to show people the step-by-step process that is involved in painting so that they can get the idea of a philosophy of picture, which is more than just picking up a photograph or looking at a subject and copying it," Mr Papantoniou said.
Participants can have a subject of their choice at the workshop.
"The participants are asked to bring an image of what they would like to paint or come with a painting in progress for constructive advice," he added.
While the workshop will be in acrylics, those who would like to paint in oils and watercolours are also welcome.
As part of the workshop, Mr Papantoniou will be demonstrating for the participants as well.
"Painting is a visual process and merely talking about it isn't enough. So, I will be demonstrating as well," he said.
He will also be the guest speaker at the June 8 opening of Taralga Art Show, which started in 2001.
"The Taralga Art Show gives me an opportunity to show my work. This time, I will be showcasing four of my paintings at the show," Mr Papantoniou said..
He has won many awards, including the 2016 Taralga Art Show People's Choice Award, and will be the guest speaker at the Art Show's opening on the Saturday night.
He studied in Sydney at the Julian Ashton Art School and the Brian Blanchard Studio. He later travelled and studied in Europe. On his return, he completed his Masters Degree in Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, which is in Sydney.
The painting workshop will be held on June 8 from 10am to 3pm and will cost $10.
Supported by Upper Lachlan Shire Council, the workshop will be held in the Taralga Memorial Hall. The workshop is being held as part of the Taralga Art Show, which is now in its 19th year.
I want to show people the step-by-step process involved in painting so they get the idea of a philosophy of picture, which is more than just picking up a photograph or looking at a subject and copying it.
