Cormac and Eun Cho lived in Towrang briefly with Cormac's parents, Robert and Helena Bozzetto, and were thrilled to be able to be married in the community. The couple met in Melbourne and many friends made the journey to Towrang for the special day. Eun Cho's parents, The Rev Dr and Mrs Ryou, along with extended family, travelled from South Korea to be part of the celebration. Mrs Ryou and female family members looked splendid in the colourful Korean Hanbok, which is traditionally worn for celebrations and ceremonies. The bride wore a cultural fusion of white wedding dress with a Korean Jeogori (jacket) which was custom made by the groom's sister, Lexii.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Towrang Village Hall.
Meeting date change
A change of date for the June meeting of the Progress Group - now being held on Wednesday June 19 at 6.30pm at the Towrang Hall. All welcome to attend.
Towrang Rural Fire Brigade News
The weather is still being kind to us, so it is a great time to do some hazard reduction burning, getting rid of those windrows or fallen branches and leaves. Remember, you need to have your name on the burns list at the Yass Fire Control Centre (contact 6226 3100 during business hours). Before lighting up, notify your neighbours and send a text message to the duty phone (0438 298 271) with your name and address. Don't forget to check the weather conditions first - a good website for wind speed and time is www.wind.willyweather.com.au and then follow the links.
The Towrang Brigade turns 80 this year. We are in the process of planning a dinner to be held on Saturday, August 31 from 6.30pm at the Chisholm Room, Goulburn Soldiers Club, so make sure to book this date in your calendar. Cost is $50 per person, buffet-style meal. RSVP phone or text by Tuesday, August 20 to Annette on 0407 803 358 for tickets and payment. Please note the correct phone number for RSVP.
Training is still underway during the winter months and the station is open every Tuesday evening. If you would like any information about property protection, joining the brigade or training, come along from 7pm any Tuesday evening.
Towrang Tavern
The Towrang Hall is opening its doors on Friday, June 28 for this month's Towrang Tavern night. Come along, bring your meal if you wish, some drinks and nibbles and have a great catchup with friends and neighbours. A couple of pieces of wood each and we will have a great fire burning to warm us all.
