Weekly Results, 28/07/2019: Minor Pairs Championship: On Friday, Greg White and John Piggott played a very tough game against Ken Fowler and Brian Cox, Greg and John ran out winners 21 to 19. Also on Friday Jason Albrighton and Dean Rogers played Ashley Toole and Bill Murphy after a hard game Ashley and Bill ran out winners 30 to 19

Social Bowls, Wednesday 24 July: Single Entry Triples: 20 players turned out to play on the day so there were a couple of pairs games also. There were some very good games played as the scores show. Hayden Ward, Greg Murphy and Richard Field defeated Chris McCullen, Ray Riches and Justin Hawkins 18 to 16, Reg Thoms, John Piggott and Geoff Burns drew with Norm Lang, Danny Jackson and Lean Robar 15 all. Peter Simpson and Ashley Toole defeated Greg White and Bill Murphy21 to 18 and finally Ken Fowler and Jim Summerson drew with Ray Bentley and Ron Grainger 20 all. The winners on the day were Hayden Ward, Greg Murphy and Richard Field.
Friday 26 July: Nominated Pairs sponsored by Goulburn Electrical Wholesalers. 26 players turned out to play so there were 5 games of Pairs and one of Triples. Again there were some very close games. Norm Lang and Rod Palin defeated Ron Grainger and Geoff Burns 24 to 20, Reg Thoms and Bob Grimes defeated Bob Seaman and Bob Toole 26 to 25, Phil Greenhalgh and Ray Bentley defeated Peter Simpson and Greg Murphy 23 to 20, Stuart Hayman and Mick Watts defeated Paul Johnson and Mick Argent 27 to 20, Hayden ward and Chris McCullen defeated Warren Guyer and Richard Fredericks 22 to 18 and in the one game of Triples Danny Jackson, Leon Robar and Chris Herrett defeated Jim Summerson, Jason Williamson and Gary Scott 22 to 18. Winners on the day were Danny Jackson and Leon Robar
Saturday 27 July: This was Single Entry Triples and was sponsored by Post House & Blue Plate Restaurant. 6 teams took to the greens on a very pleasant afternoon, some very good bowls was played.
Jocilyn Hayman, Cheryl Corby and Matt Sandow defeated Edith Rice, Peter Bacon Betty Watts 26 to 14, Carol Simpson, Logan Watts and Michael Watts defeated Gillian Lumsden, Ann Redhead and Debra Scott 23 to 14 and finally Lesley Thoms, Glenys Bacon and David O'Brien defeated Norm Lang, Louise McClelland and Morag Baty 25 to 23

Regional Singles Play-off, 23/07/2019
Karen Marshall (Southern Tablelands District) competed in the Regional Singles play-offs. against Kim Suckley (Illawarra District) of Wiseman Park (Wollongong City Bowling Club) What a great game of bowls. Karen got out to an early lead, leading at one stage 9 to 6. Then Kim came back, picking up 3 shots to eventually level the score. The game then proceeded with the lead changing from time to time as each player gained shots. Going into the last end the score was Kim 24 and Karen 22. Karen narrowly missed the jack with her last bowl, giving Kim the shot she needed. Thus, the final score was 25 (Kim) to 22 (Karen). Both ladies played excellent bowls.

Single stableford, 25/07/2019: 73 players teed off last Thursday in great weather conditions to contest a single stableford and Tony Greenwood left the rest of the field behind to win with the great score of 44 points. Nathaniel Ryan took 2nd spot with 41 points and in 3rd position came Gary Peterson with 40 points. John Norris defeated Gary Daw for 4th spot on a countback both players carding 38 points. Nearest The Pin winners 8th, Tony Antony who also collected the Cracker Shot, 11th sponsored by Bryant's Pies Albert Gilmore and the 15th sponsored by Murray's Meats John Broadhurst. Players needed 34 points to win a ball.

A Grade Winter Competition22/07/2019This week's second round of the A Grade Table Tennis conducted at the John Lees Centre was a very close affair with all matches being won 6-5. The opening match saw Chintan Trivedi's Panthers defeat Tony Lee's Rhinos with the best rubber being taken out by Michael Denney over Brett Luckie in 5 sets. The second match was won by Michael Turner's Rabbitohs over Rod Blake's Eels with Turner having a mixed night firstly losing to Blake 9-11 in the fifth before going on to snatch a narrow victory over John Lees by a similar margin. Richie Jiang's Eagles came out on top over Rod McWhirter's Titans with Richie outlasting Rod in an epic 5 setter. Other close 5 setters saw McWhirter prevail over Robert McIntosh and Dave Manning played well to down Peter Bywaters. Mark Soley's Tigers snuck home against James Turner's Bulldogs with the best rubbers seeing Bagas Ariza defeat former Goulburn no 1 player Brice Bishop in 5 before going down to Lachlan Bill later on in 4 tough sets.

Bruce Hobbs defeated Elisa Chung in 4 sets. Luke McDonald had good wins over Tony McWhirter 11-9 in the fifth and Dave Howlett in straight sets. Demons 9 d Sharks 2. The best matches were: Gerard Gray d Wayne King 11-9 in the 5th. Bob Philipson d Michael Kounnas 11-9 in the 5th. Wayne King d Dave Plumb 11-9 in the 5th.
Storm d Jet Setters 7-4. Anne McGuirk d Jamie Mills in straight sets. Dockers d Dragons 6-5. Leon Jensen d Dave Manning and Bill Smith in 5 sets, Johnny Gray d Bill Smith 11-8 in the 5th. Goulburn Table Tennis player John Lees has returned with great success from the NSW Open Veterans Championships held at Sydney at the weekend. John teamed up with Inn Van Le from Sydney to take out the over 75 NSW Doubles Title. They defeated former Goulburn player Ken Sands and Kevin Cope. Sands was an 8 times Goulburn Singles Champion and has held many Australian Veterans titles. Lees' performance was very special as he is on the comeback trail after taking a year off to recover from an injury.
