RDA Southern Inland sits on several Steering Committees and Stakeholder Groups in order to remain across the opportunities that present in our region and any regional issues that need to be addressed.
One of these committees is the Regional Coordination Group for Snowy 2.0, which consists of other RDA committees, state government and project proponent, Future Gen.

About 3000 jobs will be supported during the six-year construction period, ranging from freight, engineering and construction.
RDA Southern Inland is supporting the work of government agencies such as the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, who are planning a series of road shows across the region which will outline opportunities for industry and businesses to be involved in the project.
A key discussion point at the Regional Coordination Group is the potential 'skills drain' that could occur once Snowy 2.0 construction gets into full swing. For skilled tradespeople, this is a serious possibility, with the appeal of higher weekly earnings meaning many could be drawn to Snowy 2.0. This issue has been compared to the skills drain to Western Australia during the mining boom.
Nevertheless, it is undeniable that this is an exciting time for our region. As well as thousands of new jobs, the project is also expected to have a positive impact on many local businesses, from accommodation to hospitality to retail.
