It is a perfect time to be doing some hazard reduction before the fire season recommences at the end of September. To be placed on the burns list, make sure you contact the Yass Fire Control Office during business hours on 6226 3100, then ring the Brigade duty phone on 0438 429 871 before you light up. Ensure you stay with your fire and have adequate water available in case it escapes. Now that restrictions on meetings have been lifted slightly, brigade members have been catching up with training and maintenance sessions over the past few weeks.
Our regular Tuesday evenings for maintenance and administration are back on the calendar, 7pm at the fire station. If you have questions regarding hazard reduction or becoming a member of the brigade, this is the time to pop in and make enquiries.
Our training sessions are often held on a Saturday and cover things such as helicopter safety, how to use the pumps on the trucks, where items are located on the trucks, how to manage a grass fire, as well as other topics.
Towrang Tavern
Towrang Tavern recommenced in June on the last Friday of the month as per usual and we hope this will continue without any further hiccups. It's a case of month by month, depending on outbreaks of COVID-19.
So we will be holding Tavern on Friday, July 31 at 6.30pm and, like last month, request that you RSVP your attendance numbers to phone (4829 8236) or email (towrangnoticeboard@yahoo.com.au). A gold coin donation is requested to assist with power and gas expenses.
Social distancing will be in place, please bring your own mask if you wish. If you have any sign of a cough, cold or just don't feel well, please stay at home. Names and phone numbers of those attending will be required to be written in our register.
Church news
Our little church, St John's Anglican, will not be conducting any services at Towrang for the next few months. We will keep you advised of any changes.
Community Christmas Party
At this stage, the Community Christmas Party will still be held on Saturday, December 12. We will keep all fingers and toes crossed that there will not be any restrictions on numbers attending, but will keep everyone advised. The email address for enquiries is towrangnoticeboard@yahoo.com.au
