We had 20 members present, including four new members, Kathy King, Belinda Bent, Pam Hagan and Gloria Bell.
We welcome them to our club and hope they enjoy our meetings and social days.
We also welcomed a visitor, Barbara Todkill and look forward to seeing her at our future meetings.
The Welfare group had no visits to members and our thoughts are with members who are not well.
It was nice to welcome back Pat Delaney and we hope she will be joining us again next month.
Birthdays for March were Jean Ryan, Gloria Bell, Judith Roper and Kerry Clear.
Program Officers, Joan Scott and Marie de Britt, have provided a 2021 Goulburn Day View Program including social days such as a visit to Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum on April 15, with lunch afterwards at the Green Grocers, K & G'Z Lunch on May 20, Binalong Glass Blowing on June 18, Soup and Casserole Day on July 15, Curry House on August 19, 'Valerie's' Gehl Garden Centre on September 16, Animal Farm Taralga, Historical Society and Randal's Hut October 21.
It was decided that to raise more funds for Learning for Life, lunch will now cost $27 and raffle tickets will be $2 each or three for $5.
Our Learning for Life student completed Year 12 last year and sent the club a Thank You card, advising that she will now be attending a course at TAFE.
It was decided that the Club will continue to sponsor her and we wish her good luck with her career.
Raffles were won by Margaret Stewart and Judy Coe, lucky programme won by Delma Nelson and lucky door prizes were won by Brenda Writer and Gloria Bell.
Our guest speaker was Madeleine Achenza, who recently joined the team at the Southern Highlands Express and Goulburn Express newspapers.
Last year, along with her team in the Orana region, she won the Best Investigative Journalism award as part of the JERAA Ossie Awards.
She has previously written for the Australian Farmer and produced content for One Million Women, as well as published pieces for Dubbo's Daily Liberal and Wellington Times.
She specialises in stories about agriculture, environmental sciences and human interest.
She was very interesting and we're sure she will be very successful in her career as a journalist.
Our last social outing was at K&G'Z where 19 members attended and our meals were delicious.
Our next outing will be lunch at the Golden Star on March 18, at midday so let Margaret Gooch know if you are attending by 7pm on Monday March 15.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 1 at 11.30am at the Goulburn Soldiers Club.
Contact Ms Gooch on 0409 904 917 before 7pm the Monday before the luncheon if you wish to attend. Cost of lunch will be $27.00.
