The Secondary Schools Cup took place on Monday, June 21, and the Primary Schools Cup was held on Tuesday, June 22, at the Carr Confoy Netball Courts.
Teams from Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Moss Vale, Bungendore, Bowral, and Yass took part over the two days, in an event which thrilled the Goulburn District Netball Association.
"It was really nice to see all the courts filled up and so many kids playing," GDNA vice president, Karen Campbell, said.
"It's a great fundraising opportunity for the association with the canteen, and just to see the courts filled up and used to their fullest capacity is wonderful."
Schools Cup events are run annually across the state by Netball NSW. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020, they were called off.
Due to the absence of the competition last year, Netball NSW was unsure what to expect in 2021.
"I wasn't really sure what to expect, particularly after COVID last year," Netball NSW South Coast regional manager, Kaytlin Langdon, said.
"It's a really great success to get the amount of teams that we did."
Both events ran without a hitch, and Langdon said the GDNA was an excellent host.
"Goulburn's a really great venue, it's central to a lot of our regional areas," she said.
"It's got great facilities to be able to host an event like that."
The winners of the Schools Cup Regional Finals will take part in the State Finals at Sydney Olympic Park's Genea Netball Centre later this year.
The GDNA's next major event is the Junior State Titles, which are scheduled to take place this weekend in Sydney.
Netball NSW released a statement earlier today confirming that the event will still go ahead, despite increased COVID safety restrictions due to the recent cases.
However, spectator numbers will be limited at the events to ensure the safety of the players, support staff, and organisers.
