Only 11 girls were available for the day but they arrived fresh and ready to go.

Slow starts had been the side's issues at previous outings and the girls were keen to not let that happen this time around.

They hit the pitch first up against Brindabella and the girls were certainly up for it, winning their first game 3-0.

Next up, after a short turn around, were the hosts Cowra and the STFA girl.

They continued with their form, accounting for Cowra 4-0.

The most pleasing thing about the game was the way the girls played.

They moved the ball from side to side and added some crisp passing moves and great team goals.

The girls then had a bit of break as the heat started to arrive.

Game three was against Canberra side BelNorth and once, again the girls were comprehensive in their execution, winning 3-0.

Three clean sheets was a very pleasing aspect for the coach and the defensive players.

Game four was against early opponents Brindabella.

The girls only needed to not lose by four or more goals to make the Grand Final.

Playing all day without any substitutes and in an unexpected 23 degrees, the team decided to take a conservative approach to this game and saved energy for a likely final.

Brindabella needed a large win and came out firing with an early lead, but the STFA girls had too much for them and rounded out the group game with a 2-2 draw.

The STFA's grand final opponent were Nation Premier League side Western Mariners.

The Mariners were a very skilled side and for the opening half, STFA went with them, playing their hearts out against their highly rated opponents.

Two late strikes though, just before half time, left the score at 3-0.

The second half saw the girls keep fighting and they even created a couple of chances of their own, but as fatigue set in, the Mariners got a couple of goals to round out five goal winners.

The STFA girl were crowned runners up and took a lot of positives from the tournament after reaching their first final.

The girls will next go head to head with the Southern Highlands over a two home and away weekends before tackling the NSW Champion of Champions tournament.
