The new lighting will not only improve on-court visibility, but will also decrease operational costs, club president Hamish Brown said.
"The Goulburn Tennis Club have been working hard to make improvements across the grounds, we are sure that the new lights will be a big hit for all members," Brown said.
"This grant has helped the club purchase more cost efficient lights which will also heavily reduce maintenance costs in turn.
"The lights have been delivered and we are now awaiting a time when the electricians can start work on installation."
The grant was made available through the 2019 Community Building Partnership Program, and was announced by Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman's office on Tuesday.
"The Goulburn Tennis Club is run by a small but active volunteer committee who have undertaken some major upgrades to the facilities, including but not limited to; two court resurfacings, a completely renovated clubhouse with modern toilet and shower facilities, improved disability access, and a new kitchen and roof," Ms Tuckerman said.
"Good lighting is vital to the game, especially in winter, and these improvements will deliver twice as much light for half the electricity costs.
"The Community Building Partnership Program aims to enhance the facilities that bring people together. Community sport, like tennis, is a shining example of a continuously improving facility that brings people together."
The lights will be a welcome addition to the club during its weekly local competition, along with the Goulburn Cup which it hopes to host later this year. The annual AMT (Australian Money Tournament) drew roughly 180 players to Goulburn last year, and has been hosted by the club since 2018.
